SUMMARY:CAEN Academy Tour India 2026 – 2nd Generation Digitizers and Sci-Compiler Hands-On Training
DESCRIPTION:The CAEN Academy Tour – India Edition is a hands-on training event organized by CAEN India\, focused on introducing the new 2nd Generation CAEN Digitizers and the Sci-Compiler development framework. \nThis intensive training program combines technical presentations\, live demonstrations\, and practical laboratory sessions. Participants will explore the architecture\, features\, and advantages of the CAEN x2740\, x2745\, x2730\, and x2751 digitizer series\, specifically designed for advanced real-time digital signal processing applications. \nThe event will provide a comprehensive overview of the Sci-Compiler graphical environment\, demonstrating how FPGA firmware can be developed without writing HDL code. Through block-diagram design and automated VHDL generation\, attendees will learn how to rapidly implement and deploy custom digital processing algorithms on CAEN hardware platforms. \nA central part of the training is the practical hands-on session using the CAEN SMART evaluation kit. Each participant will work directly with their own PC and hardware setup to build\, compile\, upload\, and test real data acquisition firmware within minutes. Practical exercises will include implementing oscilloscope functions\, scalers\, charge integration\, pulse shape discrimination (PSD)\, and deploying firmware directly onto CAEN digitizer boards. Participants will also gain experience using the CAEN SciSDK Python and C++ tools for system control and data readout. \nThe training includes access to the CAEN SMART Kit during the session\, example projects\, technical materials\, and direct support from CAEN R&D specialists. \nThe CAEN Academy Tour in India will take place in: \n– Mumbai: Saturday April 11thOasis Banquets\, Vidhyarthi Marg\, Chembur \n– Delhi: Monday April 13thInter University Accelerator Center (IUAC) \n– Kolkata: Thursday April 16thBose Institute \nThe program is intended for researchers\, engineers\, PhD students\, and professionals working in nuclear instrumentation\, radiation detection\, digital signal processing\, and FPGA-based data acquisition systems who wish to deepen their expertise in modern digitizer technologies and firmware development workflows. \nDownload Poster

SUMMARY:CAEN Summer School 2026
DESCRIPTION:The 5th International Summer School on Open FPGA for Nuclear and Scientific Applications will be held at the CAEN S.p.A. Headquarters from July 20 to July 24\, 2026. \nThe program is structured around a balanced combination of theoretical lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions. It will start with the study of front-end electronics algorithms\, including digital signal processing techniques commonly used in scientific and nuclear instrumentation\, and an introduction to modern digitizers and FPGA-based systems.\nBuilding on this theoretical background\, the school will progressively focus on practical FPGA development using the SCI Compiler framework (https://www.sci-compiler.com/)\, guiding participants through the complete workflow of designing\, implementing\, and testing firmware for real-time data acquisition and processing.\nDuring the hands-on sessions\, each participant will be provided with their own experimental setup\, allowing them to directly apply the concepts learned during the lectures. Students will develop complete processing chains—from signal acquisition and filtering to triggering\, feature extraction\, and data readout—while gaining practical experience in modular FPGA design\, debugging\, and performance optimization. \nThe school is targeted at students holding at least a Bachelor’s degree in Physics\, Nuclear Engineering\, or related fields\, and is also open to PhD students and young professionals from industry who wish to deepen their expertise in FPGA programming and data acquisition systems.
