From February 2nd to 5th, CAEN SpA hosted the CAEN Winter School at its headquarters in Viareggio, Italy. The event was organized in collaboration with the IMSci-Nu Master’s program at Aix-Marseille University and the “Excellence Nucléaire Sud” project. The program combined theoretical lectures and practical workshops on radiation detectors and nuclear measurement techniques.

Program Overview

The Winter School opened with an introduction to CAEN SpA, followed by sessions on:

  • Nuclear waste characterization and Decommissioning & Dismantling (D&D)
  • CAEN digitizers and their applications
  • Neutron-Gamma Discrimination techniques

The second day focused on Environmental Radiation and included a hands-on session with CAEN digitizers. The combination of lectures and practical activities provided participants with direct experience in nuclear instrumentation.

The Winter School was made possible through collaboration with the IMSci-Nu Master’s program. The participation of attendees contributed to a productive training experience.
