Mission

A new scientific network totally focused on Modern & Nuclear Physics Education World!

CAEN lays the foundations of a New Scientific Community with the realization of a repository section fully dedicated to the CAEN customers educational works.

A series of experiments suitable for each educational level are available. An amazing experiments collection, developed both by CAEN experts and customers, makes easier the analysis and comprehension of different physics phenomena with a series of experiments based on state-of-the-art technologies, instruments and methods.

CAEN Edu is a web platform open to everyone, from young to Ph.D students, from technicians to professors. Everyone can upload and share their own experiment with the members aiming to create a community where users can be inspired and share their own activities, experiments, projects up to the birth of scientific discussion or/ and new dynamic collaborations around the World.

All the jobs on CAEN Edu are tagged with relevant information (Institute, topic, language, job type, author etc.) so to ease the navigation by the use of filters and make possible the interaction with other members of the community.

Educational Project

CAEN Spa is one of the most important industrial spin-offs of the Italian Nuclear Physics Research, providing a complete range of High/Low Voltage Power Supply systems and Font-End/Data acquisition modules which meet IEEE standards for Nuclear and Particle Physics. Extensive Research and Development capabilities allowed CAEN SpA to play an important long-term role in this field. CAEN activities have always been at the forefront of technology, thanks to years of intensive collaboration with the most important Research Centres of the world.

The first CAEN Educational kit was born as a by-product of RAPSODI (RAdiation Protection with Silicon Optoelectronic Devices and Instruments), a project funded by the EC under the Sixth Framework Program (Co-operative research) [Oct 2006 – Jan 2009].
RAPSODI Main objectives were the Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) development and optimization for three different applications: Dosimetry in Mammography, Radon Monitoring, illicit traffic of radioactive material.
One of the project results was a prototype of an easy-to-use, flexible, modular kit, developed in collaboration with CAEN, for the characterization of SiPM.

In 2009-10 there was the licensing of the background knowledge to CAEN. and the establishment of a Joint Development Laboratory between CAEN and Insubria University (Como-Italy) to finalize the development of the kit and its applications.

In the 2011-2013, an early development of the educational project started, and the first high level educational applications were completed.

Since the first steps, CAEN brought the experience acquired in more than 40 years of collaboration with the High Energy & Nuclear Physics community into the educational laboratories Worldwide. CAEN entered the world of learning and training by providing modern physics experiments for Advanced Labs based on the latest technologies and instrumentation.

CAEN developed a series of experiments based on state-of-the art technologies, instruments, and methods to make easier the analysis and comprehension of different physics phenomena of Modern & Nuclear Physics. Detailed documentations were produced for each experimental application and have contributed to making the application more usable to different educational levels.
During these years, CAEN attended a lot of conferences, schools, trainings and public events by working side by side of the University Professors. Their contribution was crucial to exploit the capabilities of the educational products and develop new teaching techniques.
