On May 13th, we had the opportunity to visit the Fermi-Giorgi School in Lucca, Italy. Students from the Applied Sciences High School program, with a four-year curriculum emphasizing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), had a valuable learning experience. They attended a captivating lecture delivered by an expert in Particle Physics from CAEN Sys, a renowned international branch of CAEN SpA that specializes in Nuclear Waste and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) topics.

Nuclear waste is a topic that sparks curiosity and raises important questions about our environment and energy sources. In this lesson we discussed the concepts of nuclear waste, the reasons behind the need for careful management and how scientists and engineers are working to manage it safely.
