CAEN Educational Events

CAEN at the PRISMA++ School 2027 – Photon Detection and FPGAs in Particle Detectors
22 February 2027 - 26 February 2027
From February 22nd to 26th, 2027, CAEN will take part as a teaching partner in the PRISMA++ School 2027 “Photon Detection and FPGAs in Particle Detectors”, hosted by the Institute of Physics of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), Germany.
The School is organized by the PRISMA Detector Laboratory and supported by the PRISMA++ Cluster of Excellence, the Mainz Physics Academy, the Helmholtz-Institut Mainz and CAEN. It is aimed at Master’s students, Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers who plan to work with particle detectors based on photosensors and FPGAs, and covers the whole chain from light creation, propagation and detection to the electronics used for signal acquisition.
The week combines morning lectures on the fundamentals with afternoon laboratories in small groups, where participants will gain hands-on experience with Silicon Photomultiplier characterization, FPGA programming and cosmic-ray muon detection.
CAEN will be part of the teaching staff alongside the JGU Mainz instructors: Cristina Mattone (CAEN S.p.A.) will contribute to the lectures and laboratory sessions, bringing CAEN’s experience in SiPM readout and data acquisition directly to the classroom.
This participation reflects CAEN’s commitment to supporting the education of the next generation of physicists and engineers, working side by side with research institutions on the instrumentation used in modern experiments.
Registration is currently open: applications can be submitted through the School’s event page.
