From 7 to 11 September 2026, CAEN took part in the 112th National Congress of the Italian Physical Society (SIF), held at the Campus Novoli of the University of Florence. The Congress is one of the most important annual gatherings for the Italian physics community, bringing together researchers from across the country to discuss the latest developments in every field of the discipline, from nuclear and subnuclear physics to astrophysics, condensed matter, geophysics, medical physics, and physics education.

On Thursday, 10 September, CAEN contributed to the Young Researchers Section (Sezione Giovani) with a talk presenting concrete examples of machine learning applications developed within the company, as part of a session dedicated to exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping contemporary scientific research.

The same day also saw CAEN take part as co-organizer of “Formare fisici per l’industria: Competenze, innovazione e ruolo professionale” (“Training Physicists for Industry: Skills, Innovation and Professional Role”), a symposium running for the full day, from morning through evening. Opened with an introduction by the President of the FNCF (Federazione Nazionale dei Chimici e dei Fisici), the symposium brought together speakers from companies, research infrastructures, and independent practice to discuss the many paths a physicist can take outside academia – from applied research and non-destructive testing to deep-tech entrepreneurship and work as a freelance professional.

Throughout the Congress, CAEN also took the opportunity to present its instrumentation for nuclear and scientific research to the wider physics community, offering attendees a closer look at the company’s solutions and reinforcing its long-standing dialogue with Italian physicists and research institutions.

Taking part in these initiatives reflects CAEN’s ongoing commitment to the Italian physics community: supporting scientific dialogue on emerging technologies, showcasing its instrumentation to researchers, and contributing to the broader conversation on how physicists’ skills translate into value for industry and professional practice.
